- Kidz 'n Cash is an educational iPad app that lets children playfully understand how to handle money.
- Kidz 'n Cash is suitable for children in the age of 6-12 years.
- Kidz 'n Cash can be used as a tool for financial education in schools, but also for financial education by the parents at home.
- Kidz 'n Cash teaches children how to deal with cash (coins and banknotes), but also what ‘plastic money’ is (in the form of a virtual bank balance).
The app contains 2 major parts:
1. What do I have?
- To keep track of what the child actually has: cash in a wallet or piggy bank, (virtual) money in a bank and all gifts and/or purchased goods.
- The money flows associated with buying things and saving or withdrawing money from a bank. Including a debit card with the kid’s own unique PIN-code.
- A kind of book keeping that suits children of this age (6-12 years).
- A real pocket money contract to fill in and sign together with the parents.
- An email reminder for parents that forget a payment of the pocket money.
- A personal wish list, including the possibility to send items from that list to other people (e.g. to the grandparents).
- A real Wall of Fame that the child can proudly fill with all the things it received as gifts or bought with its own money (including pictures).
2. What do I know?
- With playful "Snippets" kids get to know the most relevant and interesting aspects of money. Some facts may even be new for the parents...
- By watching videos kids gradually expand their knowledge further.
- By entering the serial number of their banknote, they can find out if that note is real or fake money. And at the same time in which Euro-country that banknote was printed.
- By answering several levels of questions about money-related stuff, kids can test their knowledge and earn knowledge badges. Such badges increase their status as cash-kid.
